Strengthening Communities Through Food

At Michael Foods, we believe food isn’t just about feeding people—it can bring communities together and make a real difference. From fighting hunger to supporting education or lending a hand during tough times, giving back is something we’re truly passionate about.

Our Community Commitment
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to making a meaningful impact in our communities. Beyond delivering great food, we focus on three key areas that align with our values:

  • Corporate giving: We proudly support essential organizations like Hunger Solutions, Second Harvest Heartland and local food banks through financial contributions and food donations. Our Matching Gift program empowers employees to double the impact of their personal donations, while individual facilities contribute to local initiatives such as building homes and establishing daycares, fostering stronger, more resilient communities.
  • Volunteerism: Our employees actively give their time and talents to causes that matter. From mentoring at-risk youth and supporting Special Olympics athletes to collaborating with United Way, our team is committed to making a difference every day.
  • Employment leadership: As a dedicated employer, we create opportunities that help individuals and families thrive by offering competitive wages and benefits.

Making an Impact
Our commitment comes to life through partnerships and hands-on initiatives. For example, we sponsored the Buck for a Basket fundraiser in Lenox, Iowa, doubling the proceeds to support the Lenox High School basketball program. We also donated 84,000 pounds of precooked eggs to the Food Bank of Iowa, ensuring families in need received essential protein.

Our facilities and teams contribute in countless ways. In West Jefferson, we supported the Good Samaritan Food Pantry. In Britt, our team brightened the holidays for local children through the Hancock County Learning Center’s Santa’s Workshop program. Meanwhile, our Lansing team cheered on Special Olympics athletes at the Bocce Tournament, celebrating their achievements as they advanced to state championships.

Making a difference isn’t an occasional effort for us—it’s a way of life. This past fiscal year alone, we donated more than 1.8 million pounds of product to a variety of charitable causes.
